St. Lucia - Me and my wife won the trip so it didn't cost any money. Outside of the hotel destinations (it was a jazz festival week) the city was a bit dirty and intimidating. We had a great time but there's no reason to return. Nothing much to see.
Ditto Antigua and Puerto Rico.
However other Caribbean destinations do merit a return. Barbados and St. John, where my wife and I honeymooned, come to mind.
Whoever posted about not wanting to go back to Israel, because it is too dangerous or would be too difficult to plan a trip is being silly. It's a great country and with countless tourists pouring in it's very easy to figure out bus systems and there is usually no shortage of places to stay. As for security, assuming that person lives in America, land of the sadly all too common mass shooting, Israel is pretty safe.
Now getting back to the question, Greece is sadly on my list. The country is great, the food is good, locals appreciate tourists and the money we spend, but I found it pretty bland overall. I went to a handful of islands and it's interesting how they all are a little different, with different ratios of history, beaches and things to do. I would highly, highly recommend putting the country on your bucket list, but at least for me, it was one and done.
Every American should visit the Arizona Memorial, the Missouri, Pearl Harbor,Hickam field and Punchbowl.
Flying over the Big Island and seeing the lava flow
Haleakala and the Road to Hana
Volcanoes National Park. We stayed at the lodge and our room overlooked the crater. Magnificant.
All of Hawaii is wonderful, beautiful and awe inspiring. BUT, it is too damn far away. We can say "been there, done that and bought the tee shirts. Never again
Amazon River Cruise
We did that because, Hell, none of our friends were ever there. 1100 miles (IIRC) on the river. Very interesting sights. But the abject poverty we encounter saddened us to the point that, on one excursion,we left the group and took a cab back to the ship.
Uruguay - Nice place, absolutely gorgeous weather. That said it is not really as interesting as the rest of South America and the people are colder/less friendly than in other South American countries. It is also very expensive, and surrounded by two much more interesting countries. I'm glad I visited, but not sure I will be back
Grand Cayman-
The water is incredible, snorkeled with some beautiful schools of fish and had a stingray swim between my legs. Great weather too.
Reasons not to go back.
The Island itself isn't much to look at, very few points of interest.
Quite expensive because everything has to be imported, including fresh water and employees.
Could you please tell us some of the things you do in Vegas if you don't gamble? You might convince a few of us to spend some vacation time there. Thanks.
Here's a quick list of a few things I can think of. I have done all of this except for the Rio Zipline, but that's coming soon!
This doesn't even include just walking around and seeing the site, people watching, or any of the amazing pools that are in Vegas, etc.
Outdoor areas:
Mt Charleston: snow capped with skiing in the winter, gorgeous pines and a cooler escape in the summer. So amazing to see the terrain change from desert to mountains in a short drive
I will not likely be going to the Democratic Republic of Korea soon. Their justice system seems a bit arbitrary and harsh. Some have questioned the safety of visitors.
