Mostly staying for various lengths of time in our vacation home in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada in Cal. But will be taking a two-week trip to the Rogue River in Southern Oregon for salmon fishing in August.
Starting in Budapest (flying over business class, woohooo!!!)
Next up is Gdansk for 3 nights
Amsterdam for 3 nights, (side trip to Arnhem to visit a friend)
We are exploring a trip in July/August to Cartagena as well.
We typically do a big family trip once a year. Last year was a Caribbean cruise. This year we have decided not to do a big family trip as we are having a pool installed in May. We might do a local trip to Wisconsin Dells (it's about 6.5 hours from us) for a few days, but that's probably it.
I'm waiting to see how some things shake out this week. If things go fine...
1) A week in Maine or Michigan. I spent a lot of weekends in Michigan when I lived in Indiana. I've spent some weekends in Maine from business travel in metro Boston. I have friends in Boston and some near Detroit. I'd like to do this in June.
2) I'd love to take another week to which one I don't get to earlier around Labor Day. I should have enough vacation for both. Barring that, it may be a four-day weekend in Florida. I can take an Allegiant Air flight from my regional airport to PIE for about $200 roundtrip most times. Wheels up to wheels down is about two hours.
I spend a lot of weekends hiking in western NC, but most of those hikes are within an hour or so of me.
During the actual summer, the only thing I have planned for sure is a trip road to Chattanooga, Nashville, Birmingham, Montgomery, and Tallahassee. It's likely that we will do a long weekend or two, but they're not planned yet.
No travel plans for the summer -- in fact, I refuse to travel in summer. Too hot, too crowded, too expensive. I'll think about traveling again in September or October.
We are going to Bimini and Siesta Key (same weird trip) but other than that week, I have nothing on the books.
