Here are three places in the Upper Midwest that I have lived near (all), have been to (all), and got to work at one (BWCAW). There is so much to love up here.
The Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW or BWCA), is a 1,090,000-acre (4,400 km2) wilderness area within the Superior National Forest in northeastern part of the US state of Minnesota under the administration of the U.S. Forest Service. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bounda...rea_Wilderness
The Apostle Islands National Lakeshore is a U.S. national lakeshore consisting of 21 islands (Apostle Islands) and shoreline encompassing 69,372 acres (28,074 ha) on the northern tip of Wisconsin on the shore of Lake Superior. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apostl...onal_Lakeshore
Voyageurs National Park is an American national park in northern Minnesota near the town of International Falls established in 1975. Unlike many other national parks, where the main access to the park is by motor vehicle, bicycle or foot, the primary access to Voyageurs is via water. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voyageurs_National_Park

South, Northeast, Midwest, West is what I was thinking.
Okay thanks. Then I guess I live in the Southwestern U.S. area that has so many incredible vacation spots it would be difficult to choose but the three I've enjoyed in recent years would be the Grand Canyon NP in AZ, Carlsbad Caverns NP in NM and the Arches NP in Utah.

Very cool. I visited all these places when I lived in MN. A friend had his own island on Rainy Lake in Voyageurs Park, which was fun getting to by boat or hovercraft. MN has a lot to offer, and if you read John Sanford novels, you will hear all about it.
In my former stomping grounds of SE Utah: Arches Park, Canyonlands, Bryce and the Colorado River itself which is mind-blowing spectacular, even in the UT section. Never tired of boating or hiking.
Down here, I guess it would be the Amazon and Machu Picchu. On my bucket list.
