I agree. I'm retired so number of vacation days isn't an issue but 14 days of being cooped up at my expense somewhere before I can go out is no way to start a vacation.

I'm worried about this for our scheduled return to Ecuador next month. Quarantine at some specified hotel sounds awful and yes, expensive.

I guess we'll see. Airport not even open now...

I can't imagine anyone is letting US citizens in their country quarantined or not based on the amount of cases we have overall.

And no, I would not go anywhere making me quarantine for two weeks.

As it is, none of the states are allowing New Yorkers or anyone from New Jersey in their state without quarantining.

With the notable exception of airline crew members!

Hmmmm... two weeks in the Taj West End Bangalore in a room with a balcony overlooking the glorious gardens, buffets of superb Indian food 3 X daily and access to the swimming pool in a Garden-of-Eden setting? Yeah, I can endure that!

The only way I'd consider a two-week quarantine would be if I was planning to spend several months living in the country in question (especially if I had a work visa or a student visa). Otherwise it's just not practical.

If you're quarantined, you're not getting buffets of food or access to the pool. You're getting a tray delivered to your room of whatever you choose from their likely limited menu because the kitchen is short staffed.

You are not going to a buffet and swimming in a pool under quarantine. It doesn't mean you can roam the property, it means you cannot leave your room.

I've been through 14-day quarantine on rural property.... forest, meadows to walk and run in, deck to relax on, I just stocked up on food for a couple of weeks in advance. I could do this forever. Actually my lifestyle is like this anyway, so wouldn't notice the difference.
