well, rape is a life sentence so he deserves a life sentence too...let him be someone's B..in prison..I don't care how much help is out there now compared to years ago, it's still not discussed as openly as would be any other crime, from a victim's point of view. Just like any type mental illness and suicide ...What's cruel and unusual is not for the rapist creep to decide

You can't reason with a culture that to thrive rape and pillage the planet. Rape has been used as a weapon of war as a way to disrupt and destroy another culture. Once a woman is raped - she will never function fully as a supportive wife- she will never reach her full potential as a mother- the children will not reach their full potential- it is a form of slow murder.

I am not looking to help victims "get over it"- just stating the fact that rape is ruins a woman- and no one fully gets over it. I think that those who down play rape- are capable of it and look at it as a form of sex - when it is not.. It is about domination resulting in destruction of the human spirit.

Sociopaths see their crimes as nothing more than you do in swatting and killing a mosquito.

I agree with you Oleg. There is no getting over it, just learning to live with it everyday, learning to trust and function again. People who have been raped as a baby and had no clue about what was being done, never have a life like other people do. Deep down something was ripped apart and you can't ever fix that. He's not even close when he thinks he's being punished too severely, being on drugs is somehow an excuse...It shows he has no idea and probably couldn't care less about the woman he ruined. His only concern is his own butt.

We will have to agree to disagree. I'm a survivor and I'm a fully supportive wife and mother. My kids thrive and flourish.
You can either choose to be a victim and stay that way or you can choose to work to overcome.

Rapists aren't a threat to men....Nor will they be rehabilitated in prison.

Tax dollars are the price we have to pay for our own safety and the safety of our kids.

I have no issue forking out tax dollars to keep them off the street.

Rapists ARE a threat to men. But because most rapers are driven by violence, they pick "soft", easy targets. Male rape is less common, and less reported.

I think crime against the weakest members of our society should be judged more harshly. Not that raping a woman in her 30's is any less abhorrent than raping a woman in her 90's....let's just make our society a bit safer by locking violent criminals away for life. I don't think a perverted like this can be rehabilitated. He will always be a danger to women.

I'm refering to rape driven by violence, most commonly perpetrated by men.

Agreed, they can't be rehabilitated. Released after sentence and put on the sex offender registry. Knowing locations of residence is not protection.

What concerns me, the crime will be taken a step further, rape and murder. A dead body that can't be found doesn't talk or indentify them.

To be fair, this is a case by case sort of thing as some will let it ruin their entire life while others barely give it a second thought. I was diddled around with by an adult multiple times when I was like 4 or 5, but I don't think it had any effect on my life nor does it evoke any kind of emotion if I happen to think of it for some reason. It wasn't appropriate behavior on their behalf, but whatever; I'm still alive, healthy, don't have any nightmares, and have never had any mental health issues or anything of that sort. However, I'm a guy so maybe that has something to do with it as females tend to be a lot more emotionally fragile when it comes to this sort of thing.
