Something else interesting is that a full 20% of shooting victims this year have been inside a vehicle. That seems very high. They're virtually all from altercations that happened and led to a shooting or someone targeted by someone in another car or on the streets. (They weren't just random "lets go shoot this car".)

Well mostly the people getting shot are targeted or are having confrontation with the people shooting them. It's not just because they're in a car or walking to work or the store. There are certainly innocent people killed, but a large majority are basically criminals going after criminals. Troubled youth going after troubled youth.

The Chicago Crime Commission released an updated book about Chicago gangs this week, which reveals that the Windy City has more gang members than any other U.S. city.
The book gives an in-depth account of how gangs in Chicago have changed over the last five years. One disturbing thing researchers found was that gangs have been recruiting children at a very young age to join their ranks.
Wait, that's 53 in just one month? That's insane. Means Chicago's on pace for 636 murders this year! Is there something going on over there crazier than usual (gang war, cartel intrusion, racial tensions, etc.)?
