Is it north Tucson? Mid-town?
Harvey didn't ask for a working-class neighborhood, did he? He (or she) wants a place to roam freely without wandering into "bad" neighborhoods. We're just answering the question - no need to get defensive. Would you walk around 22nd and Kolb at night?

There are some great areas on the West side - I used to live there, so I know - but there are some areas I wouldn't want to visit or walk through at night. I don't think it's a stretch to say the North/Foothills area is generally safer than midtown and the near east or near west sides.

Check out azstarnet.com/crimemap - although to be fair, I don't think Foothills' crime stats are included as most of it is covered by the Pima County sheriffs dept.

It's all relative. If you're the paranoid type, you will probably feel unsafe in almost any urban area. Pretty much all areas of Tucson are safe to roam around in during the daytime. At night, I'd suggest you stay away from the south/central areas of Tucson (or at least be within screaming distance).

Yes, I would actually walk around 22nd/Kolb at night as a white female. Just like I saw a young white female that looked like a college girl walking Stone/Roger at 10pm.

It's going to get mighty crowded in Marana/NW Tucson/Oro Valley if people automatically answer the same allllll the time. And guess what? It will attract that crime you're looking to avoid eventually too. Many criminals are smart you know.

People who've lived here for awhile can tell which areas to avoid, but newcomers would have more trouble, especially if they're renting and don't have the advice of a realtor. And for the record, I wouldn't walk in the 22nd/Kolb area alone at night - I wouldn't walk around my own neighborhood late at night, but that's why I have a dog.

As if anybody walks anywhere, even during the day.
