Speed limit signs are posted more frequently in Pima County than any of the other five states where I've lived. Limiting high speeds on River Road is a safety issue. Many people walk across that road at points where there is no reasonable place for a cross walk since there are so few lights. Would you rather have more lights?

It never ceases to amaze me when drivers (especially residents of another state) take the attitude that preventing them from endangering themselves and others should be the state's job. No, it's your #1 job as a driver to drive safely and prevent collisions with other cars and humans. It's hard to believe that someone who happily describes herself as "an inveterate speeder" and brags about having citations from six states should expect the residents of her new home to help her escape the laws that are designed to protect us all.

"Never go to the link that says "to see more pictures go to this web address..."

Because the IP address of the computer you use can be tracked, and presumably, the offender is the only one who has access to the login id of the citation....so if you log in to look at the photo, you will have given your IP address, and you will have confirmed that you have looked at the photo.....

I'm pretty sure that's not accurate. If you do an IP search, you'll find a user's ISP but not their specific computer. Now, if the ISP was issued a subpoena, they they could find out the IP assigned to your specific modem on that day and time. Just knowing I'm on Comcast in Tucson doesn't exactly identify me as anyone other than a person accessing the Internet via Comcast on a particular day and time. Could be I'm at a hotel that uses Comcast and am using their wireless system.

"I'm pretty sure that's not accurate"....

I'll admit I'm not an IT professional, but we all know that with cookies placed on our computers by websites we visit, our activities can be tracked, our purchasing patterns can be scrutinized and advertizing can be specifically targeted to us, based on data mined from our web activity. Perhaps an IT professional will chime in ?

IP tracking

What's with all this "Cloak and Dagger BS"?

Wouldn't it be much simpler and far less stressful to GROW UP and PLAY ADULT by PAYING THE TICKET and MOVING ON?

no it isnt. from the FAQ section on photo radar tickets;

Quote:
Q: Am I obligated to respond to the “Arizona Traffic Ticket and Complaint”?
A: To avoid personal service of the complaint at your expense, you must respond by the court date by either appearing in court, paying the fine, requesting a hearing or enrolling in defensive driving school if you are eligible. If you fail to respond, then personal service is required as the offense carries the same penalties as a citation personally given to you by a police officer. The cost of this service will be in addition to any other costs associated with the offense.
If you fail to respond after process has been served, you will be subject to default. A default judgment can result in the assessment of a fine, surcharge and fees and the suspension of your driver license.

Update: it's been a good 4 months since my friend got a letter in the mail from the city of tucson asking him to waive his legal rights and pay a speeding ticket. I should clarify: he never got a speeding ticket, he got a letter just asking him to waive his rights. thats what the process server is for: to serve the actual ticket.

Anyway, he moved to phoenix and immediately told the DMV of his new address, so it's not like he's been hiding or anything. He tells me he's never had anyone knock on the door, nothing. He even asked a cop to check his registration and everything came back clean.

to answer the original question i posed: it seems if you move outside pima county the city of tucson doesnt bother to serve the ticket, just like if you moved out of state. Like i said, my friend never got a ticket, so there's no points on his license, no fine, his car insurance didnt go up - there was NO negative consequences for demanding the city follow the law and show him the ticket.

I recommend anyone in this situation to follow the law and demand the city show them the ticket. If the city wont drive 2 hours to phoenix that's their problem, not yours. A ticket is not valid unless it's served. It amazes me how many people have never read the constitution, never stand up for their rights. Stand up for your rights or you wont have any.

cheers

It's something called the constitution. Its something called standing up for your rights. I know, its much easier when we live in a dictatorship and dont have any rights. it's ironic after i posted this all the NSA spying revelations have come out. Besides, my friend isnt hiding. He's at the address listed on his license. If the city of tucson chooses not to serve him the ticket thats their loss. My friend stands up for his rights. Sadly, he is in the minority in society and on this forum.
