Back in December I applied for the Sentri pass entry for exiting Mexico back to Nogales AZ (I believe the pass is good from CA to Texas). Sort of a “I’m retired, why not get one” sort of attitude. This pass permits rapid entry into our country from the other, by passing lines and just making life easier. Here’s how to get one, the time it takes, cost and a few other things.

Go on the internet and put in Sentri Pass, or GOES Pass. The site should pop up. Try the site below:

https://goes-app.cbp.dhs.gov/main/goes

You have to fill out several pages of info. Not hard, just follow the directions. Takes a while. Be patient.

I was notified just the other day that my interview was ready to be taken. There is a list of where one can go for this interview, the documents needed, etc. Since Nogales AZ is only just down the road from us that’s where we asked to be seen.

I’ve attached a photo of the location in Nogales where you go. The interviews are done on the 2nd Floor of the Diconcini Port of Entry building. It’s right at the end of Route 19. Park in one of the nearby lots (the ones you use when going into Mexico) and walk over. There‘s no parking at the center. Sorry for the poor photo, but I didn’t know I’d be using it to describe where such an interview was done. Don’t go to the right or you’ll go into Mexico!! Stay left as you head toward the building. If confused, just ask anyone of the guys in uniform. They were all very helpful to my wife and me today.

The cost of the program is around $125 dollars total per person, so you’ll have to decide if it’s worth it to you.

A couple of things. First, the folks at the interview location couldn’t have been nicer. Very helpful, very friendly. Do bring the documents you’re asked to bring (some tax info or other proof of income, plus driver’s license and a few other items. Oh, and your passport!).

In summation; from the time of application to the interview is around 2 ½ months. The card comes in the mail in a couple of weeks if all is OK. If you’re a traveler, ask if they’ll also authorize you for the GOES (Global Online Enrollment System) card as well. This will enable you more rapid movement when going by air.

Rich

The area circled in black is just about where you enter the building. There are stairs or use the elevator to the 2nd flr.
