I just moved to Tucson and I'm finding the irrigation system for my yards confusing. The previous owner left me no contact information, or any other help on how to use it. I think it's a drip system.

I looked up the irrigation timer manual online and for now, programmed it to go off at 4 am every day.

The problems:

1) How do I know if the system is working? When I set a manual or forced test, and walk outside, I can't really tell if it's working.

2) How do I figure out where all the "zones" are? Or how do I figure out how far the system reaches in my yard?

I hope to solve this soon, as it seems many of my plants are dying. Thanks for your help.

I also bought a house with irrigation and also got no instructions how to use it. While I haven't moved in yet, I was there for 2 weeks in March/April and hadn't even looked at the timer system. I did discover the various lines that run around the property. Now, you may have already discovered this, but it wasn't obvious to me when I first looked at it, is that there are little nozzles at the end of the lines which turn to open or close the water supply.

I woke up every day to find the patio wet, when it hadn't rained the night before. I started playing with the lines and discovered the nozzles. That is the only direction I can point you in.

Many of my lines in the front yard are run under rocks...have you checked your lines for obstructions? or maybe they are kinked at some point?

I am coming back to Tucson on Thursday and hope to figure out my system as well. I don't want to move into the house in July and find my plants dead either. I also have the fun task of finding out how the solar panels on my roof work. They are for the pool. I'm getting to the point where I may just call the previous owner.......

Good luck!

Thanks. I tried taking another look, this time with a friend, but couldn't figure it out. I called Cherry Landscaping earlier today, and with their help, hopefully I can solve this problem once and for all (and with a new patio)!

I was gonna suggest some things, but since landscapers are coming today, it's not necessary. I've been in this predicament and really feel for you.
