I had noticed a Curve-Billed Thrasher digging in the barrel cactus blooms for the seeds in the back yard and had decided to capture some video. While watching the bird out the kitchen window, our cat Blaze came to see what I was doing, and rudely started complaining loudly about not getting enough attention (there is no amount that is enough). Then he jumped up on the window ledge to interrupt further and get himself in to the video shot. Oh well, that is how it is at my house! I captured a picture of him being a good boy (being asleep on my desk in the afternoon sun). In all seriousness, we adopted Blaze from the PAWS cat rescue about 3.5 years ago. He was a repeat visitor there and could not be placed in a home with any other animals, so we were a perfect fit as we had lost our 13 year old wiener dog, Winnie a year or so prior. Also in that time, my wife Jan lost both of her parents in an 8 month period. Blaze has been a blessing. We suffered a lot of loss in a short period of time, and Blaze needed a home like ours, and filled a large hole in our lives. It all worked out almost like it was planned that way! Blaze is the cutest and so talkative in this video! Fun watching Blaze watching the Thrasher dining on barrel cactus seeds. He has a perfect spot for viewing. I always enjoy seeing Blaze, thank you for sharing this.

Love Blaze! So nice that you adopted him. He has the perfect setup- lots of wildlife entertainment for him to view outside but none taking his place for center of attention inside.

Blaze traffics in his cuteness. It gets him out of a lot of trouble ;-) He loves window hunting, so I am really glad we have lots of windows for him to view through. We also open the inner doors when it is cool enough to do so. We did it yesterday, and that is when Blaze took a swipe at a javelina that was at the door! Blaze is a bit of a nutjob, so he fits in perfectly with this family! Thanks for watching and your comment!

Yes, Blaze was a problem child. Apparently his mother died shortly after he was born, so he had a surrogate Mom for a while. That is a tough start in life for sure. He was returned to Paws Patrol a couple of times because he could not get along with others. They told us he needed a home with no other animals, and we had lost our sweet mini dachshund, Winnie about a year and a half prior, so he would be the only one. So we took him 3 or 4 years ago, and the rest is history. He craves attention, so we have to pet him a lot! He will criss cross in front of you to stop you, then collapse on the floor and wait for the petting to commence. We love him and are doing our best to give him as good a life as possible!
