Are there many red-light traffic cameras in Tucson?
The Phoenix area has a tremendous amount of them, and I'm curious to know whether this phenomenon has spread to Tucson.
Thanks in advance.

I believe we have 4 at the moment and they plan on adding more before the end of the year.

Transview Before You Go

Looks like there might be 6 at this moment

Interesting question, Elliott.

To my knowledge, there are two major intersections with Red Light Cameras up and running and probably more on the horizon.

Also, I believe there are a couple of Speed Camera Vans which pop up on major streets when least expected.

Bottom line . . . BE CAREFUL because the fines are steep.

The locations of the radar vans are posted weekly, and the Arizona Daily Star posts updates daily. Here is today's. (http://www.azstarnet.com/sn/hourlyupdate/250169 - broken link)

Watch out for Wilmot and 22nd Street. They have a camera on every corner and on every island!

It looks like lightning hitting the intersection whenever they go off!

LOL . . . the exact same over here at River and Oracle, ZonyPony.

It's amazing how frequently those lights go off considering all of the publicity plus the "base fine" is 280 bucks.

I can vouch for one at Valencia and Nogales Hwy. Hubby just got a lovely piece of mail Saturday with 4 pretty little pictures and a video he could watch of his offense online. Holy mackerel!
