The police have been here for awhile now. One tow truck showed up about 45 minutes ago and another just got here. They're trying to figure it out. The police man said they have to get it out (for safety reasons too). All the neighborhood kids have come to see it.

Wow.

Wow.
Do they know whos car is it or did the owner just take off? It has to be funny watching them going to try to tow the thing out, probably gonna screw up the car, get the camera out.

They can't get to the license plate (yet) for fear of the thing rolling backwards and maybe causing harm. My son offered to get the VIN off the dash, but the police man said he has to get it out tonight anyway, so he'll get it later.

It happened prior to 3 pm. I saw a young man pacing around then and that's when the first tow truck showed up and left. The police were called about 5:30 by another "viewer".

I really figure he just drove over the culvert not knowing it was there. There are no skid marks on the pavement. I would just think that as busy as Broadway is, even out here (between Harrison and Houghton), that someone would have seen it and stopped to help him.

My guess is that it's the young man that was pacing around. He probably ran home to report it stolen before his parents could find out what he had done.

"Yes <insert auto insurance contact name here>, my car was, uh, . . , swallowed by a sinkhole. .. next to a culvert .. .what's that? Yes it did happen quite suddenly. .. the sinkhole almost looks like a drainage ditch, not sure how to explain that... hmm?.. I guess you could theorize that it kind of looks like I may have driven the car into it by accident.."
