I moved out here to Tucson 1 June 2007 from San Fernando Valley in CA and discovered to my delight that this town is verrrry pet friendly. Now that I have a place where I am allowed to have a dog, I'm wanting to find a Papillon/Pomeranian AKA PapiPom or Paperanian. I don't have a lot of money, but I have enough for good food and I am home a lot so my new dog will not be left alone all the time. I have a 12 Y.O. male tabby who the dog will have to get along with too. No cat eating or cat hating allowed. All I can offer is a forever home with good fun, good food and a good life. I prefer a little girl dog because a self respecting boy dog would take offense to the kind of collar I would buy. I go to Petsmart and they have lots of cool collars with bling. I suppose if the male dog was gay he wouldn't mind my putting a sparkly pretty collar on him. So that just brings up another problem.....finding a gay male dog who doesn't mind wearing pretty girly coats and collars. It would just be simpler to get a girl dog.

Any recommendations? I have already looked on Petfinder several times with no results. They have lots of Pit Bulls and my apartment complex won't allow them here.

Can't offer you any advice of where to find your pup down there but thought you might enjoy these pictures of our Pomerian puppies (taken 2 years ago). We had a total of 10 puppies (4 from 1 of our dogs and 6 from the other). We had a wonderful time raising them and all but one ("Monkey" - whom we just couldn't part with (3rd & 4th photos)) now have wonderful homes.

Take a look (scroll down once the link below pops up):

Since you're looking for a mutt, you should try the local shelters. Anyone trying to pawn mixed breeds for big bucks (which is what it sounds like you might be looking for) is going to be asking for $300 to $500 maybe. Not to mention most, if not all, of the people that breed and sell these kinds of dogs are backyard breeders only looking for quick money off deprived, sick and mass-produced litters. Or they're just irresponsible hillbillies that like puppies (and can you blame them? Puppies are adorable).

Yeah, I said it.

And you were right.

Lots of cute fluffballs in the shelters/rescues. Please don't encourage those folks making $$$ by calling a mutt some sort of designer breed.
