I mean I have tried guys, and I just find even one day without cable is unbearable and dull and boring and oh i dont know not liveable, if there is such a word, lol. So am I the only one who feels this way. And especially with the recession / bad economy do any of you guys yield in to bringing down expenses by cutting of cable tv?

Apparently you have the internet. Lots of shows are available online. Get a library card and check out books and movies there.

You don't need it, it is a waste of money. Hook a High Def computer up to a TV and you will have access to:

Hulu.com - free on demand.
Netflix - 8.00 a month unlimited movies
Amazon - for the latest released movies 1.99 to 3.99 each.

I am going on 7 years without purchasing cable, the only thing I really miss about it is sports. But the savings is incredible and to tell you the truth I read more and do many more mindful activities with my family now.

agree with Mach5. I haven't had cable in years, just can't justify the cost. There are so many full tv seasons available online now, especially thru Netflix, & new episodes are usually posted the next day on network websites or on Hulu for free. Then there's Youtube & all kinds of less kosher ways to find what you're looking for for free...and with the right setup you can stream all of this to your tv so it's not like you have to watch it on your computer screen.

I guess I can understand wanting cable if you like to watch live sports or something but personally, there are only about 3-4 cable networks I would be interested in watching regularly and their content is easily found free on the 'net. I don't mind waiting a day to catch up...just have to avoid spoilers

I have it now, but last time I went without TV it took my brain about 30 days to get used to not having instant, bright flashy, mindless input, and I started to read a lot more, went outside and noticed a lot more things than in the past, i think it was a positive thing. I have been contemplating canceling it again.

The only reason I can't manage without cable is that I am a huge sports fan and need the premium sports channels. As far as TV, I can watch any shows online or DVDs.

Cable is my main form of entertainment. With the DVR, I'm able to record my favorite shows and watch them at my convenience. In addition to that, I enjoy watching sports.

After a long day at work, I enjoy being able to flop on the couch in front of the tube.

Worth the expense since we don't spend much money on other forms of entertainment.
