Yes, I agree. Steven Tyler was refreshing, funny, entertaining and I loved when he "woofed" the Dawg. They found some talented girls in NJ, a number of them surprisingly young. I enjoyed the show more than I have in years.
The only question mark I have on the new format is that I felt one or two of the contestants with the big back story didn't quite wow the judges with their voices. It seemed like the decision had already been made to put them through by the producers, and the judges went along with it. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the show tonight.
I actually enjoyed tonight's show and find the new judges a refreshing change. I didn't miss Simon at all either, but it's only week one. I think this season has potential -- especially with their plan for changing things up.
Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez are good replacement judges.
Much better than Kara and Ellen.
And what I am really glad of, is they didn't show a lot of talentless freaks, like they did in previous seasons.
That always seemed to spoil the show.
This year, they stuck mostly to the actual talented contestants.
