In our opinion, it is much better than Modern Family, although, in all honesty, we only watched Modern Family a few times at the beginning and found it silly.
Modern Family is a half-hour sitcom.
Parenthood is a one-hour drama.
Other than having slightly similar names, and both being GREAT shows, they're not all that much alike? Personally I would never compare them - I just love them both, for totally different reasons - and there's plenty of room for both kinds of shows!
^^^ Me too. This show has r-e-a-l storylines and awesome acting....even the younger ones. No stupid lines to draw laughs and no pandering to audience like Modern Family. (like their topics but not the obvious pandering to audience).
I learn something or at least remember something, from every show.
I think it is one of the best shows on network TV - it kind of flies under the radar but I think it has some of the best actors on TV today. They all have such amazing chemistry together.
I find it very real in a feel good sort of way.
It sure does! I was flipping around tonight because I have lost interest in Unforgettable. Landed on Parenthood to see what it was about, and was hooked into the story almost immediately. Now THAT's what a good show should do!
I really do enjoy this show as well. I do think it flies under the radar and have read that its ratings are on the low side. I typically record it and watch it later in the week. I just don't know if NBC will keep it around.
