Thing I found interesting is how they showed the producers trying to stir up controversy between the agents. "Do you know what he said about you?" For some reason you can really see how scripted the show is.
I love these type of shows but haven't watched this one other then the first 5 min and was thinking the same as another poster but since I haven't finished this episode I can't comment too much on it.
However shows like this are great but also make other sellers think that it is a reality show and not scripted as they are very scripted and things are different in reality.
Nowadays sellers think that listing agents will show up for every listing and say "welcome to 1234 mainstreet (just an example)" and be there while another agent will show it to their buyer and local homes average under $ 200K.
That is different than 10 million or higher and even above 1 million it is different.
In reality these agents will not be there and have either someone else present or also a lock box or the key at the doorman.
In NY a toilet cost as much as many homes over here!
The other difference is the verbal offers and we don't work with lawyers in Florida unless it is probate and most law office make a mess of final HUD statements so we rather work with a title company which I also cheaper.
I liked the first episode. Only because the "staged girl drama" has not started between the agents yet. First of all, I love the city so I enjoy the beautiful homes and neighborhoods and views. And I am always fascinated by how agents deal with their clients -- keeping them happy despite unrealistic expectations, low offers, etc. I liked hearing Roh's backstory....but why on earth did he grow that beard? Is that required for his religion? Because he looked wayyyyy better without it. Both other guys are cocky but entertaining. However, next week starts the catfights....that's when I'm usually out. WHYYYY do they do that? There is quite enough drama just between the agents and sellers, without bringing in fake agent-agent drama.
We enjoyed it. I especially like to see the houses. San Francisco's housing is quite different from NYC (which the latter is mainly apartments, at bottom). We also enjoy the LA show.
Scripted? Pretty much obvious. Each seller wants an outrageous price, say $4 million. Agent disagrees, but promises to sell for $3.5, which seller reluctantly agrees to. Agent ends up getting seller to agree to $3.1, since that is the only offer.
I also like when the agent says that the offer is "all cash!", like sometimes the buyer is offering some cash, and the rest in cows or sheep. When we bought our house it was 'all cash'. Of course, we had to borrow said 'cash' from a bank, but, by gosh, the seller got 'all cash' from us!*
*I recognize that, especially in lower-priced homes, some sellers will 'carry' part of the note or such. However, that is not usually the case for the high-priced homes.

Not sure if you meant serious or maybe kind of joking so don't get me wrong if you meant the latter.
When we say "all cash" we refer to no contingencies of loan getting approved all the way through loan commitment which includes an appraisal, inspection, insurance, etc.
With all cash usually there is a quick closing and perhaps an inspection but no other contingency which makes the offer more attractive but lately we see that cash doesn't talk as much as it used to talk.
