I happened to see a few soaps in TV and Netflix as latest as Quantico, The attorney series and the Doctor series. Almost everyone is flirty and everything begins and leads to sex.
So the question is , do they reflect reality or is it being too exaggerative? I find them too exaggerative and dont think everyone in normal spheres of life would live like that.

Most people in the west in the late 19th century were not at all like Gene Autry, Roy Rogers, or Hopalong Cassidy. Most people then were like the Cisco Kid. No wait, not him either. The tube is about ratings, not honesty.
They generally reflect an exaggerated, fantasized version of the culture they intend to represent. Of course there's TV type drama in real life but probably not near as common as it's portrayed. After all, you can't have a show about office workers chatting around the water cooler about their kid's soccer games.
We watched a movie last night that was sort of a buddy guy meets girl loses girl gets girl in the end type of story and along the way there was lots of casual sex. The guys all had game so talking to girls at the bar was easy for them. The women were just as horny as the men. Is that real life today or did I just miss out on the NYC club scene when I was in my 20's?
Another thing we don't often see in movies is people at their jobs. In real life people have to work. There are so many of the characters in movies and TV that live in amazing houses or apartments and they have the money to party every night.
Then again who wants to see some guy plodding away in his cubicle...
The NY "club scene" was a creation of the media. It never involved or affected any significant numbers within the population. If you missed it, you are tied with everyone else.
I don't watch tv in that matter so I tend to be out of these fake trends But I believe it does, therefore they should only show some sense to learn usefull social skills etc.
There is no difference between TV and literature. The both appearance shows exaggerative embellished life. In this life men do heroisms, every woman has a young, fine and rich lover, any boy can meet a beautiful and sensual girl.
This is a way to paint bright our tedious life for an hour.
It's called "entertainment" for a reason....people watch because it's NOT like their own lives!
Exactly.
Who receives more attention? The person who sleeps with one person or the person who sleeps with 20 either at a workplace or a school campus?
