Was watching CNN news last night and noticed again how bad the spelling and grammar is in the crawls. Who the heck is writing these things???
"The police bare responsibility" come on!!!!!
The gaffs seem to be getting more frequent lately.
Yes, and it drives me nutty.
But this is what happens when you have unpaid interns writing your captions and hire the cheapest copyeditors you possibly can because you're CNN and that should be enough for anyone with a journalism degree to want to work for you.
I could have spelled it with an "e" at the end- but Merriam Webster has: gaffe n. F. [gaff, gaffe], blunder.
Gaffs is acceptable. Next time I'll spell it with an "e".
LOL. Our weatherman on the local channel here apologized for the national weather center. They kept running a weather alert banner with the word "aerial" instead of "area." I guess the station was getting a lot of calls about it.
I've noticed this alot on news web sites. Just shows that basic things like spelling and grammar aren't important anymore. :/
(I sure hope I didn't make a spelling error.)
