The TV show made assumption that the letter was directly written by Ramsay but in the book, there was some inconsistencies and made some readers to believe it was written by Mance Rayder and not Ramsay.
Pink letter from the book...
Your false king is dead, bastard. He and all his host were smashed in seven days of battle. I have his magic sword. Tell his red *****. Your false king’s friends are dead. Their heads upon the walls of Winterfell. Come see them, bastard. Your false king lied, and so did you. You told the world you burned the King-Beyond-the-Wall. Instead you sent him to Winterfell to steal my bride from me. I will have my bride back. If you want Mance Rayder back, come and get him. I have him in a cage for all the north to see, proof of your lies. The cage is cold, but I have made him a warm cloak from the skins of the six whores who came with him to Winterfell. I want my bride back. I want the false king’s queen. I want his daughter and his red witch. I want this wildling princess. I want his little prince, the wildling babe. And I want my Reek. Send them to me, bastard, and I will not trouble you or your black crows. Keep them from me, and I will cut out your bastard’s heart and eat it.
Ramsay Bolton, Trueborn Lord of Winterfell.
There's a lot of red flags because how does Ramsay know that Stannis's wife, daughter, Melissandra and the wildling princess are there with him? Only Mance Rayder would know that.
While I agree that there are a lot of flags that mean it might not be Ramsay that sent the letter, the real question is how much do Benioff & Weiss know about the what happens in the final two books. Supposedly, GRRM told them what ends up happening with all the major characters, but does give them plot points, details of what happens and some of the major twists, or is it just a rough outline? (i.e, Does he just say: Ser Barristan killed by an assassin; or, does he go into more detail and describe how Grey Worm is ambushed by SoTH assassins, when a weary Ser Barristan, fresh off leading a successful defense of Meereen, rushes to his aid. Unfortunately, while saving Grey Worm, Ser Barristan is stabbed by a poisoned dagger and dies...)
If it's more like the less detail I describe above, then it means the Pink Letter from the book could be a fake. If it's more detail, then it means that Stannis really did die in attacking Winterfell and Ramsay most likely wrote the letter.
So, I've read most of the thread and not sure anyone touched on this point but...are most speculating Dany is "the one who was promised" (as the new priestess believes), or is it still Jon? She's not the sword-bearing type, but the rest fits. Or maybe it's a combination of the three dragon riders?
I'm going to say Yes to Arya making it. I think Sansa is sending the Ravan to Petyr for help from the Vale.
I was not surprised Sandor is back. They never really showed him dead.
I, for one, am very happy about this. He's always been my favorite character.
