Didnt used to be like that, when? 1955? Broadcast tv has always had sex scenes and they do today. Premium cable has always had nudity......and they do today.
They covered a lot more even in the 2000's. I don't watch TV and my husband uses headphones because I don't like the noise. One day a few years back he had the volume turned up and I heard some of the tv conversation with cursing. I said "they're allowed to say that now" I'm no prude but tv has changed a lot and not since the 50's more like the late 90's-early 2000's.
OP...if you don't like it don't watch it. I don't have a problem with the sex or nudity, those are natural. I have more of a problem with the lack of creativity in shows...and that is why I very rarely watch tv and movies.
I think when you have an over-abundance of something, than it feels like pushing an agenda, like that show.
One show that shows too much female nudity in my opinion is Dexter. In that show, there is always breasts in a lot of episodes it seems. But no male nudity ever it seems, so that would be pushing an agenda in the opposite direction.
Dexter had more "censored" nudity than actual nudity. for all of Dexter/Rita's sex scenes, we never actually saw Julie Benz fully nude. Same with Jennifer Carpenter and Aimee Garcia to name a few more.

Obviously the 50's were an exaggeration.
Nudity was there even in the early 90's. "NYPD Blue" made headlines for it in 1993. Now if you want to talk about cursing on tv, that has been there even longer. "Lace" (1984) had the famous "Incidentally, which one of you ******* is my mother" line. Just off the top of my head.
Still though, we agree on the fundamental aspect of "if you dont like it, dont watch it"
Basically if you watch shows like Game of Thrones, Girls, Shameless, Spartacus, or How to get Away with Murder, there is sex all over the place!
But I feel that a lot of times, it doesn't even need to be there, like they are just showing it that they can, just to get ratings, and it comes off as gratuitous. Especially Game of Thrones and How to Get Away with Murder.
Yup.
I don't object to sex or violence onscreen if it is integral to the story. If it advances the plot or develops character. But most of it on TV these days is thrown in just to put some skin onscreen. Game of Thrones got so bad about it that SNL actually made fun of them for it. But it isn't the sole or even the worst offender.
If you're throwing in sex or violence just for the sake of some sex and violence, it's no longer a story. You're now making porn.

Agreed...sadly the producers know that sex sells.
Did anyone see that movie "Paul"? They threw in more fuc*s than I have ever heard in a movie. They were also so out of context it was ridiculous and rather stupid.
One thing in particular I noticed, is that some shows will concentrate more on lesbian or gay sex more so, like they are trying to push an agenda there. How to Get Away with Murder, I think has had a gay sexual foreplay scene, in every episode so far, but only halfway through the first season. I mean talk about giving the impression that the the showmakers are one sided.
I gave up on HTGAWM when it came back from its first winter break. With such lame storytelling, Connor's sex scenes were all the show had going for it. And they were always a plot point, btw, not emblems of "an agenda."
If you ask me there should be more sex/nudity and less violence/guns. Nudity never hurt anyone and the human body is a beautiful thing not a shameful thing. Well past time to shelve the puritan thoughts of the human form and sexuality. One can also turn the channel.
I don't think there's enough, we need to have more...
i would agree with this statement.
too much violence tho
there should be a bigger emphasis for the safe sex
