I have a Firestick and I've never had any issues with watching Hulu on it. It's the app the consistently works well. I've had issues with the Netflix app.
we bought a smart TV specifically for watching HULU. It worked fine during the day, but in the evening HULU would kick us out saying we did not have enough band width or some crap.
When we called HULU they said our VISIO modle did not support HULU---even though it was a pre-loaded APP.
They told us to get a firestick, which we used prior to buying the Vizio, but that was even worse and why we went out to get the Vizio....
We just dropped HULU, and will probably do the same the with with Netflix..
One of the reasons Roku has remained superior since the dawn of streaming appliances is that they are independent - both Apple and Amazon have had endless convolutions over carrying "competing" services. Even though Roku is getting more into the provider end, I suspect there will never be significant lapses and lacks in their content. They are successful enough without playing strong-arm games.
My last generation Firestick runs Hulu and Kodi fine. I plan to get the new Firestick 4K on Black Friday when it'll be $39.
