Me, too. It is amazing how we can actually begin to see her as vulnerable, as horrific as her crimes have been. That is how deep her characterization goes. We find ourselves rooting for her when she is trapped in Julian's house - it's like we forget she is a killer.
I guess last nights episode is a bridge episode setting up what's to come...but WOW it was still so good...laugh out loud moments with Villanelle...great supporting cast too!
I've only seen the first two seasons (Netflix). I have a theory that is either pretty obvious and cliche if I'm right, or completely ridiculous and overly simplistic if I'm wrong. I would consider it quite the spoiler if I'm right. Or maybe it's supposed to be obvious and everyone is already aware of it. lol
Spoiler
It's in regard to Villanelle's obsession with Eve. When Eve was fussing with her hair in the restroom and the "attendant" (Villanelle) came in, she advised Eve to leave it down. Later, in trying to identify Eve, she asked someone something like, "Was it an Asian woman with amazing hair?"
Then, in describing Villanelle's upbringing, it was noted that her mother had died and that her father was an alcoholic.
After that, Eve goes to talk to Anna. And... her hair. Her hair is so similar to Eve's. When she turns her back, it was liking looking at Eve and Eve's hair. And in that scene, Eve happened to have her hair tied back in a pony so it wasn't such an obvious comparison.
So, I think that Villanelle keeps becoming obsessed with these somewhat older women, with the same hair (that's she's always noticing and commenting on) because they represent the mother who was taken away from her.
I know she's obviously portrayed as this unfeeling psychopath, but they keep showing scenes where her eyes are slightly tearing up and then her face turns to stone again as if she's struggling to take control again. Sometimes she is playing cat-and-mouse with the person just to mess with them, but sometimes it looks real. So I don't know if this is supposed to be her covering up the permanent pain of losing her mother or what.
Not much has been revealed on V's mum...we have many episodes for THAT
to come out!!!!
Anna was just gorgeous to me...Paul Newman lips...just beautiful.
