Me, too! My brain keeps thinking it is a COBRA KAI spin-off.
I hope this show will be good. I really do. But I'd be lying if I said I'm optimistic.
They had a fancy premiere showing, with all the stars there, just the pilot episode, about a week ago. Everyone had to sign NDAs.
I read some (supposedly) unbiased blurbs from attendees (blurbs allowed, reviews not) that said it was very good. That they did a great job of setting the table, and introducing a boatload of characters.
We'll see! Personally, I have high hopes. Production values look great, the producers know what they're doing, and I've read the book it's based on (well, 3/4 of it, still reading...), and it's a fascinating story.

I read the entire (available) Song of Fire and Ice (GOT) books before the series ever aired (and was glad I did). What is the name of the book House of the Dragon is based on? Is it as good as the GOT books??

Keep in mind: It isn't a novel. It's an imaginary history.

Different.
The GoT books are fictional novels. I thought the first ones were superb, but each one proceeded to become more of a slog. By the fifth one, it became work to read it. GRRM has never met a word he didn't like to use. Over and over.
"Fire and Blood" is written as a history book, with a slight fictional flair. So it's drier, but at the same time, that makes it less of a labor to read. It doesn't grab you and make you want to read for hours like a pure fictional novel, but at least it moves. Sorta.
I read it because I find my enjoyment of these types of shows are enhanced when I know the "history" behind the story. I understand them better.
Hope this helps!
