Worst year ever for Superbowl commercials. The only one that really stuck with me was the religious/christian commercial. I am not christian and not even really religious but as a human, I really liked the message they were sending with that - BE KIND. LOVE. DONT HATE. Despite the fact that the horrible Hobby Lobby family is behind it, I think the message itself is pretty cool and can be adopted by ANY and ALL religions and people.
You're not wrong, but at the same time, for the amount of $$$$ to air a commercial during the Super Bowl, how many people could be fed, sheltered, cared for? The real Jesus stuff.
Kennedy's a joke of a candidate, but I liked the ad. Actually thought this was a better ad year than the previous few, though none were particularly outstanding. The less talking animals, the better
I liked the Budweiser ad until the end; because they leave the brave Labrador and hard-working horses out in the blizzard while bringing the booze into the bar and celebrating.
The VW bug commercial made me wish I could get myself one of those first beetles. What a great little car that one was.
I wasn't impressed with the other ads.
My first thought on what you said is.. Tell me you've never had an original "Bug" without telling me you've never had an original "Bug" .
lol.. I mean.. They were good.. And they weren't. The original buses were notorious for going up in flames. Fuel lines. The bugs were better about that, but.. While they were great first cars for many, many people.. I think you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who would want one of those as a daily driver today.
The "new" beetles were horrendous little things if you had to work on one or have work done.

My Father bought one new in 1967 while living in Southern California. He drove it for about 5 years and then gave it to his parents, who lived in the Ozarks. I have many good memories of riding around in the backseat of that car (which seemed so big to me) along the winding, hilly roads. It was their daily driver the entire 20 or so years they lived there (they drove an Olds 98 in the winter....talk about polar opposite).
My grandmother gave it up in about 1985 and it found its way back to my Dad, and eventually my younger brother, who blew the engine in about 1991.
