While I don't support whaling, The Sea Shepards are nothing but terrorists and pirates, The Japanese Navy should escort thier fleet and sink the Steve Irwin.. Where it American's being harassed by say, Somali's that is exactly what everyone would be calling for...........
I don't know who the original singer/songwriter of this song is. It's called "The Last of the Great Whales" although I've also heard it referred to as "The Last Leviathan." I heard it the first time 21 years ago at a Thistle & Shamrock concert. The singer then was Scottish folksinger Sheena Wellington, who sang the song without musical accompaniment. It was incredible and I've never forgotten it.
Well, we're several weeks into a new season of this series and Capt Cutlet and his band of clueless lemmings are at it again.
I went to the Whale Wars discussion forum at the Animal Planet website. I was happy to see that most of the posts are anti-Watson.
Can't believe AP network wants to stick with this train wreck. I wonder what AP's culpability is if Watson creates a disaster out there on the high seas?
There's one thread on that site that shows video of Watson RAMMING the Japanese whaling vessel with his garbage scow. The video's posted were taken from several angles and from different ships. I can't beleive Watson's vicious attack on this ship. Holy Cow!!!
Can't believe I find myself rooting for the whaling ships, just hoping they retaliate against this clown, Watson.
Just watching it you have to wonder do they really think they are helping their cause. They have all this talk and aggression but nothing ever seems to come from it. I had a good laugh when the Japanese took their prop fowler out of the water. They cannot seem to do anything correctly, I liken them to a misquote, annoying but won't stop you from doing what your doing.

The AP tries to fully distance themselves from the action and views of the antics of Captain Kangaroo. Both sides have stepped up their antics and efforts to disrupt the other's objectives. The more I watch, the more I find myself laughing at the Sea Shepherds, hoping their next move will land them on the front pages of the world's newspapers with everyone laughing.
By no means do I support the actions of the whalers, but the pirates aboard the Steve Irwin are not winning over many supporters either. The previews for the next show look interesting, showing the Japanese unleashing the LRAD on the helicopter. After Capt. Kangaroo's actions last season, I wouldn't put it past him to have one hidden on board trying to accuse the whalers of it's use. This man is crazy, and I believe will stop at nothing to publicize his cause, no matter who or what is hurt during the process.
I just saw the show in a marathon this weekend and thought it interesting tv. One thing caught me was that most were reasonably pretty young people, but none seemed to have any qualifications, and there were many women on the boats. Agree with the comments on the extreme sports type. Seems to be many who are looking for a purpose in life. AP is marketing their efforts as hip and noble, but in reality I think its the opposite. What the Japanese are doing is legal, and these guys are basically pirates. That 'captain' doesn't appear tocare for his crew and I think he views them as expendable. I hope these kids get the reality check they hoped for and get out of there before he gets one of them hurt.
As i googled the info, I dont find too much good in what they are doing. I would hope donors watch how they treat their donations, and will give to other organizations that actually help the animals.

It appears to me that the kids have drank the KoolAid (as the saying goes) and are willing to do whatever Watson tells them to. I was up late last night and tuned into the show hoping it would put me to sleep.
I was however amazed at the greater lengths of self-importance these looney toons have gifted themselves with! First they take a $5M donation from an obviously "out of touch" former game show host and use it to commission a second garbage scow they can use to throw acid at the whaling ships. Then you take a green-designed powerboat and propel it into the path of a larger, less nimble vessel, thereby sinking it and crying victim (even thought it was a self-inflicted wound).
The Sea Monkeys have even taken steps to protect themselves from the whalers, going so far as to mount metal skirts (with spikes) around their boat to prevent the whalers from boarding. Yeah, like that may ever happen! Now they're using air-powered guns to shoot their acids at the whalers too! I think Capt. Clueless thinks he's Don Quixote and the whaling ships are windmills!!!
I really can't wait for these idiots to poke the sleeping bear one too many times. I'll cheer like a European soccer hooligan when the Japanese are forced to retaliate against these dopes!
the japanese are in violation of the trade agreement. they are doing commerical whaling.
we simply do not enforce trade agreements. illegal immigration is just another form of breaking a trade agreement.
On the one hand, I see the captain and crew of the Sea Shepherds as a crunchy-granola gang that keeps screwing up, repeatedly. Their ineptitude is frightening, and I fear they will kill themselves. I "get" their dedication to ending the needless slaughter of whales, but their feeble attempts at stopping the whalers becomes counter-productive. Their methods defeat their message. Captain (or Admiral) Paul is an egomaniacal windbag.
On the other hand, having done a bit of research myself, the Japanese are truly in violation of international whaling laws. They are no more conducting "research" on those vessels than a bass fisherman is conducting research in a fishing derby. They are hauling in many, many illegal whales in order to sell the meat and byproducts. That they are getting away with lawlessness doesn't make them heroic. It make them criminals who thumb their noses at laws the rest of the world agreed to honor, in order to cash in.

You hit the nail on the head with both points. I watch this show occasionally and have such mixed emotions about it. Something I don't understand is why it's so easy for the Japanese to ignore the international whaling laws? I mean, just painting "Research" on your ship seems pretty lame, but apparently it works.
The Sea Shepherds are just inept and hurt the cause.
