Its a rounded number. Moderator cut: see comment The numbers fluctuate from month to month too...it could be less, it could be more this month. We won't know for sure till June, but Tyler has shown no signs of a worsening economy, & has in fact shown signs of a surge in growth if you will since the beginning of the year.

BTW there are no 100 on the mark cities in the list. I'm no rocket scientist either, but 7.6 percent is better than 8.1 or 8.3% & Tyler sure is closer to 100 than either big cities.

Do the math

Tyler MSA @ 200,000 population = 15,200 unemployed

Dallas-Fort Worth MSA @ 6,500,000 population = 526,500 unemployed

If it's TIED for 102nd, then it's out of the top 100. Period. There are 101 cities ahead of Tyler. There are TWO east Texas cities in the top 100.

What they generally also teach in elementary (but perhaps not in Texas) is that rounding and approximations should be used appropriately; for example, it makes sense to approximate the population of Dallas as 1.2 million or even 1.20 million instead of 1,197,816.

However, 102 is a totally tractable number and represents a rank on a list, not a number with significant statistical error like the population of Dallas. If you can't keep track of three significant figures, I feel for you. I hope you don't work as a cashier...

These numbers fluctuate quarterly & this month Tyler could very well be at 100 or lower. We'll know for sure in June as I previously said though 102 is just outside of that realm & closer to 100 than 135 or 155. Our economy is THAT GOOD right now & hope it stays this way *knocks on wood*

Homes sales have shot up these past few months bucking the trend state wide. Many new restaurants have opened & people are continuing to go out to eat, watch movies at the cinema, & shop high end stores like Coach in the Broadway Square Mall.

There is no # 7, 10, 11, 13, 16, 17....etc. etc. either which is why I rounded 102 to 100.

Let me ask you this...when you pump "Supreme" gasoline do you really think you're getting 93 octane fuel? If you answer yes, you are incorrect.

LOL, there is no good way you can spin this in your favor. Stores in the mall? Fluctuations in the economy? The only thing that's relevant here is your willfully deceptive rounding of 102 to 100 in the name of homerism - which you haphazardly justify based on, of all things, the fact that some cities were tied? Riiiight...

Since we're rounding here - on second glance it seems as if Dallas DID make the top 100. After all, if we truncate at one significant figure, 133 is 100. The Dallas economy is doing well, In-N-Out opened up in allen, etc.,...who's to say Dallas hasn't "fluctuated" its way above Tyler?
