I live in Adjuntas and you pay after your first acre $20 per Acre in taxes
It is far from cities which makes it so peaceful I haven't been here too long don't really know anyone would love to make new good friends.
Moved from Florida and I love the year around winds and cool tempature nights
I live in Humacao, about an hour and a half away and down on the coast. Adjuntas is a FAVORITE internal vacation spot because it is the opposite - way up in the mountains. It's just a wonderful place and if I didn't love water sports and year long hot weather for swimming I'd love to live there. It's actually cool in the winter with 50s and even a rare high 40s night. Like others have mentioned it's very rugged and not too far from the highest point in PR on Punta Cerro at 4300' with absolutely beautiful, almost alpine scenery.
I disagree with the person who said that you had to go to Ponce for all your shopping. Adjuntas has a nice pueblo (village downtown) with plenty of restaurants and small supermarkets and even a few antique stores and specialty stores. The town is so quaint that you feel like you are in a Pyrenees village in the 1950s, not on US territory in 2019. I have spent as long as a week there in a AirBnB and was fine staying in the areas between Adjuntas and adjacent mountain town of Jayuja. I understand that during Maria, Adjuntas, like most of the central cordillera mountain towns, had its electrical grid with mostly wood poles strung across mountain ravines totally decimated and went between .5 yr and a year with no govt power. However, Adjuntas had an environmental coop centered on a downtown mansion with a roof lined with solar panels so everybody in the town just hung out in this central meeting place and charged their phones and kept up to date via radio and internet while 80% of similar remote areas were in the dark.
