so when we first got to the island in 81 as immigrants we noticed the ruins of the old train tracks. but no trains.
my father, QEPD, would take the family looking for these artifacts. We'd watch out for any clue - Train rails used as fence posts; bits of rusted train rails on the beaches around Rincon; the ruins of old train cars sitting outside Mayaguez port; old railroad bridges. We found a train station hidden amongst the mango trees in Anasco.

ha! i recognize one of the collaborators. he was my boss for 6 months in '95, until he fired me (i deserved it)
there is a book too, by Jack Delano about the railroads as well. it is simply pictures taken of a trip he took from one end to the other in the 50s.
there is some really cool history around the island.
