So i was receiving unemployment benefits last year beginning in September 13' and my benefit year end date was 12/28/13. When i registered for work i was told that me registering last for 1 year not 1 benefit year so there began my confusion...

So i filed a new claim on January 5th which was approved and my first call in date was set for January 21st. Now this may just be on my stupidity but because i didn't think i had to register for work again i did not register for work...

So once i called in on the 21st and realized my mistake i went in on the 22nd and registered for work and my first 2 weeks of unemployment had to have a decision made upon.. The decision was made today stating that i am ineligible for my first two weeks of payment, which i understand however my confusion now is that the wording in the letter was,

"You were required to register for work prior to your first call to MARVIN. Based on available information, good cause for late registration has not been established. You are ineligible for benefits under MES Act, Sec. 28(1)(a) beginning January 05 , 2014 and continuing until this condition no longer exists. You will not receive benefit payments during this period."

Now my next call in date would be the 3rd of February.. My question is that since i'm now registered for work and the "condition" as stated above that kept me from getting my first two weeks of payments no longer exists. Will i be able to call in on the 3rd and receive my payments or will i have to do something else?

Thank you for taking the time to help!

Do you have proof that you registered back in Sept '13? If so, to me that means that you registered prior to your first call.

I wish I could find the thread, but someone did post about using MI's redetermination procedure, and this might be a situation to use it. I just wouldn't rely on the state figuring out that you complied. I think you need to tell them by redetermination/appeal.

Yeah i faxed them my stamped sheet that i received when i registered for work in September of last year and i sent them the stamped sheet that i received on the 22nd of this month, when i registered for work for the 2nd time for my new claim.

On my account on the state of Michigan's unemployment website it says that i am to certify on the 3rd should i just take that as reason to believe that ill be able to call in on the 3rd do you think?

You should always be able to file your claim. I filed claims for 52 weeks before I got paid anything because that's how long it took to resolve the issue and receive the retro pay for those weeks. You should always keep claiming because when these things get decided in your favor, you want to get paid.
