Most "Christians" don't see them because they are afraid of them and refuse to acknowledge their existence.

I've wondered about that myself.

I've always been Christian -- of one persuasion or another -- but the only other-wordly entity that I actually got to see directly was when I was probably around 10 years old or thereabouts*. I was raised Roman Catholic, but I don't think I had any opinion on spirits one way or the other during my childhood.

When I went all born-again Christian in my early 20s, I still never saw anything directly again, though at that point I assumed it was probably because I now had the Holy Spirit in me and that was preventing things from "harassing" me ... or something like that, there. But I found that a bit disappointing (if true -- though I'm now skeptical that this would necessarily be the case), because I've been open to such experiences and find them incredibly fascinating. Especially once I got past my "all ghosts are demons" phase.

*The aforementioned experience involved a dark mass hovering over my bed, near the ceiling,in the middle of the night (of course ). I even turned my head to look away from it as a test to see if it was actually something in the room, or just my mind's eye projecting it (in which case the image would be projected onto wherever I happened to be looking). It remained in that fixed spot. I finally realized I needed to use the bathroom, so up I went to do so. When I returned to bed and looked up toward the ceiling, it was gone. I don't even think I was afraid, which is strange because if that same thing were to happen now, I'd probably hide under the covers (I may like this sort of thing, but in the middle of the night I don't feel so brave, lol!).

Now that would definitely freak me out if i saw that dark mass above me. In my bedroom!
I'd lay there frozen. And reach for my phone...lol

You were brave!

Yeah, I don't know why I wasn't freaked out by it.

I even stared at it for awhile, as I saw imagery swirling inside of it, but I kinda figured that part was my imagination, as it's easy to visualize things in an already somewhat darkened room with everything being 'grainier' to begin with (a hall nightlight did shine in from the doorway, so it wasn't pitch black in there or anything, which therefore allowed me to distinguish between the ambient darkness and that of the Blob (I don't really know what to call it).

I sometimes wonder whatever became of Dark Blob.
This incident took place in what was my great-aunts' cabin, in the Catskills.

Perhaps you weren't afraid because you sensed that it wasn't there to harm you. What do you think?

When I was 7 years old, one night after everybody went to bed I heard the hallway floor outside my bedroom creak. I figured that it was my Dad getting up to have a glass of milk, as he did that sometimes when he had trouble sleeping. The floor stopped creaking outside my room. My bedroom door was open. I looked figuring that I would see my Dad. Instead I saw one bright green eye staring at me! It was about 6 feet off the floor.

Oddly, I didn't scream or yell out. Instead I pulled the covers over my head. Then I heard the floor creak once again as if someone was walking to the kitchen.

The next day I asked my Dad if he had gotten up that night. He said "no". I told my parents what I saw and they said "You were dreaming." However, I was wide awake and know what I saw.

That may have been the case.

Oh wow ... I don't blame you for hiding under the covers!!

Plus, any instance I hear of involving an entity peeking around the corner at you from behind a wall or something I find especially creepy for some reason. Add to it the height of the entity, and *eek*!

Actually, I haven't. How to tell if I encounter one?

I'm not sure but for me it was that the phenomenon only happened for a few days and then stopped (after I yelled at it). It felt as if something just happened to wander in but recognized that it couldn't stay. I can't really explain it. It seemed to wander in and then wander away.
