I have tried it. I looked in the wrapping and saw wax. So, I was wondering if anyone knows what the connection between ear candling and "new age" thought? I have heard it has something to do with prior and/or advanced/alien civilization technology or the like? Thoughts on this?
I have not heard anything about ear candles being anything to do with New Age thinking. All I know is that it is supposed to use something which I believe is called a chimney effect to move wax out of your ear and up the hollow tube. (loosening the wax with heat?) They are meant to be made from beeswax and paper and burn a little like a cigarette. Not had it done though. Probably much more online about them and how to make them too.
Does lighting a cone of fabric saturated with wax and sticking it in your ear seriously sound like advanced alien technology? They traveled through space and/or time to give us this?
Here is an article from the American Academy of Audiology on ear candling - no thanks:
Makes me wonder if Wi(c)ki pedia is secretly a stinky candle of toe jam.
Ear candles are one of the most ridiculous ideas I have read about. Discovering a quarter behind the ear is a more advanced magic trick. Any alien promoting it probably has lineage in the "pull my finger" family of practical jokers.
