In the episode I referenced, they actually had paw-prints of a beast which had 5 or 8 pads. No known canine has this footprint. They also had paw-prints appearing on a game cam but no animal was seen making them. That does not make sense in the normal reality we live in. Some people have seen them up-close in front of them too.
Then there were (a previous thread) those supposedly dogs which gorged and killed that man on his bike.
Ive read that in order to become a skinwalker, they have to commit to the 'darkside' for many years and also they must take the life of a relative! (someone would really have to be EVIL to do that!), but I imagine there are many people out there that would have no problem with it either.
The skinwalkers don't pass the common sense test for me. If even one Native American had these powers would they be living on reservations? Seems to me with powers like that history would be very different. It does make for fun campfire stories though.

Its not really understood what their purpose is, I have read they can be called upon in 'curses', and I have read peoples accounts of being followed and harassed by them in strange forms, but here again, their goal appears to just be scaring the people half to death.

Yep, I believe that is called 'infrasonics'...they can somehow project fear into a person, and apparently get something from this in return.

I think it would be difficult for Native Americans to post about Skinwalkers as they believe you should not talk about them for fear of attracting them to you. Kind-of what you pour energy into, you get more of. And no-one wants more Skinwalkers, do they?

Yep, you are right, however there are plenty of Native Americans that are not that frightened of them too.
