There are over a billion people worldwide who accept that energy flows in the body. Mainly this is in the form of meridians or energy channels which wind their way around the body and are the channels by which energy is delivered to and from the various organs of the body, maintaining health. Acupuncture and acupressure is well known to all of us, although many of us would not accept or choose it as a valid way of healing our ailments.

Coupled with that, there are countries such as Switzerland and the UK, which accept that minute or virtually non-existant quantities of substance act in a way to promote healing. Homeopathic remedies are sold in chemists and pharmacies in these and other countries and are used by millions.

So, this to me, is as mysterious and anomalous as many of the paranormal and crypto events we hear about. Why do so many people accept these methods of healing and yet so many dont accept equally unlikely paranormal events?

Well, for one thing, there's no denying that the body is electric. Modern Western medicine doesn't accept the idea that the electricity flows along meridians, but 5000 years ago, acupuncture was used in Europe. "Otzi" the mummified man found frozen in the Austria-Italy border region's Alps showed signs of having had acupuncture treatments.

And actually, come to think of it, there IS a renewed focus on acupuncture in France and Germany that developed independently of the Chinese tradition, and has made its way into medical practice in the US. And insurance companies cover it if applied by an MD. I knew an MD (now retired) who had trained in this Western acupuncture technique, and developed his own treatment for macular degeneration. He ended up devoting his entire practice to restoring people's eyesight; patients flew into town from around the US to get his treatments.

So there does appear to be a scientific basis for acupuncture theory.

Homeopathy was developed by a German doctor in the late 1700's-early 1800's, which is why it's popular in the German-speaking countries. Their medical systems are very open to remedies that get documented results; they research various treatments, and if results are consistent and they key to how they work can be unlocked, they adopt the treatment. This contrasts sharply with our own medical system, which doesn't bother to research and test anything outside the mainstream, with the exception of the NIH, which does some of that type of research, but their research results don't seem to reach practitioners in the field, even on something as basic as the role some hormones play in regulating some functions of the body.

These examples you give are not paranormal. You're trying to equate a Health and Wellness topic with paranormal phenomena.

I found this. While not about energy channels per say, it is about the energy in the body:
Quote:
"Auras are oval-shaped fields of energy surrounding the body. The color(s) you see convey messages about a person’s thoughts and feelings.

Most auras are made up of a combination of colors. The most common color you see represents a person’s qualities or emotions."
How to See and Interpret Someone Else’s Aura and Your Own
And it claims that everyone can see someone's aura and even your own by training your sight properly.

For one thing, even medical science acknowledges that there is an electrical current that runs through our body and that is needed to keep our heart beating. Look it up. It is a small current, but it is discernable with modern equipment. But many of us have experienced other types of energy in our bodies, and there are ancient healing techniques using them. Why do you think it is so weird or wrong to believe or know that we do have energy in our bodies? What do you think causes cells to regenerate, and dna to replicate? Something has to fuel that.

P.S. I see that RuthforTruth already said this in a different way.

This forum has Unexplained and Mysteries in its title too. Unfortunately, I know from experience, if a thread topic goes too weird and unorthodox for the other forums, it gets dumped in here. If you want to be a grumpy poster and dont want to comment, allow the thread to die without posts. No-one forces you to post - right?

I was trying to start a discussion on unacknowledged energies (and mainstream medical authorities do not acknowledge the basis for acupuncture as energy channels within the body linking organs). If medical science DID acknowledge this then more treatments would be using this as a basis. They would also accept other energy medicine modalities too.

Medical systems may use homeopathy in some European countries but they do not understand it nor do they regularly prescribe it in many other countries.

I do not think Western science has uncovered how homeopathy works, only that it does. I do not think Western science has uncovered how acupuncture works either, only that it does. So, that leaves us with two medical modalities which some countries use (as I said above) but without knowing how they work and with speculation that they may work by modifying the energy systems of the body.

The point is that society is accepting and starting to use healing systems which they dont understand scientifically. Much of the paranormal is recorded and documented but not understood scientifically either. Perhaps the paranormal naysayers and critics should move on over to the health arena and focus their energies there, because proof is unnecessary.

It seems that science does not need to understand and have proof of something before they grudgingly accept it.

So, if most of us accept this energy we cannot see, then why dismiss the paranormal energy which interacts with us in other ways? Aliens, Bigfoot, ghosts, there are some on here who dont accept these as real, and I notice they (Sam...) have not commented yet on this.

Define energy.

Paranormal events are not easily documented or verified. The electromagnetic field surrounding all living creatures can be measured.

Maybe one day we will when we learn to detect other forms of energy such as dark energy or even dark matter who knows.
No, that's not what a theory is in science. In science, a theory will always remain a theory, regardless of the increased amount of evidence/facts surrounding it.

I believe in the future people will realize this and sickness will be dealt with by laying on of hands and praying. It could happen right now if we had the faith.
