It's not like they haven't managed to survive rather handsomely on their own for about 1900 years or so.
Personally, I think that the UK will be fine either way the vote goes.
Since people on this message board, politicians, international law experts and economists still haven't provided proposals for how to react to the negative effects of withdrawal, I really don't think that the UK will be fine. Sweet memories of the old Empire won't change that.
But hey. The EU and France will still be the scapegoat of British politicians for another two years... I'm already excited about what Nigel "The Pound Is Safe" Farage is going to say about this in the morning:
My bet? "It will boost the exports of our non-existent manufacturing industry!"
Pretty glad right now that I get my pay in HKD which is pegged to USD... And not to GBP... I wonder what happens when Troy from Sheffield realises that he can't afford to get drunk in Magaluf this year.

We'll see. Meanwhile, time to book another vacation to the UK!
I'm still up--at this indecent hour. Hubby says he couldn't care less! He left England due to being fed up. As if it's any better over here in the US. Same problems, different names.
But he's yammering something about Brussels having too much say and something about when they voted some party in or out? They should have voted all of them in (or out?) I obviously don't understand.
It should be interesting now to see what the fallout is from this decision. I hope for the best for England.
If I recall correctly, Britain endured years of austerity after World War II. With Brexit I would expect that Britain would again experience this.
Island countries with limited natural resources, such as Britain and Japan, must export to survive. Because they must import the resources they need to survive. For this, there must be trade partners and/or a market.
I understand that there is a view in the French government that the British must be punished, to set an example.

Does this mean hubby's pension will go down? One thing, we plan to go back to England to see the grandson so maybe a stronger dollar will be to our advantage. But we won't have many dollars because the come from GBP. ???? Ya just can't win!
