This doesn't really concern the probability of Texas seceding based on surveys conducted at a certain point in the past - secession was unlikely then, and still unlikely now. It's to do with projection of future trends driven by momentum of current events.

Don't hold your breath.
Texas has 27 MILLION residents. Only a minuscule percentage of Texans actually want to secede.
You have to understand that Texans are steeped in Texas history and anyone who lives here very long learns that Texas was once a sovereign nation, and that Texas has a unique treaty with the US federal government regarding public lands, offshore oil reserves, and the right to break into up to five states. Consequently, there is a uniquely Texan-style independent streak a mile long in every Texan heart.
This doesn't mean that most Texans, or even a large chunk of Texans, want to secede from the United States (Texas is a very patriotic state and has a much higher than average per capita rate of military service, for instance).US Military Is Not Representative Of Country - Business Insider
What it DOES mean is that when a Texan, or a group of Texans, get the feeling someone is trying to push them around, they tend to make it clear that they're not going to put up with it. This takes many forms - and just one of those forms is for a small, but very vocal group, to threaten to secede. And it makes for great press, because the press in general knows that anything that makes Texans look a bit crazy sells.
Yes, and it just got a lot tougher for everyone in the UK. You'll all be on your back foot economically for some time to come. If the older voters are feeling glee over sticking it to the Millennials, that does seem quite weird to an outsider. If the land of King Arthur can't provide them with work, your young people will be heading overseas permanently to find jobs. We've got Italians and Greeks and Bulgarians and North Africans coming to Canada. Kids from London will be moving here to work at the barber shop in Toronto soon too.
Oh, and how many hundreds of millions got wiped off of your economy on Friday alone? That's your pension savings there, mate.
You only list what you assume will be negatives, with no talk about positives. I don't think older voters are feeling "glee" over "sticking" it to younger voters. Considering most of them have children of their own, that is absurd. They voted to leave because they thought the benefits outweighed the negatives.
Anyway I find it impossible to feel sorry for a generation who can't be bothered to vote themselves, and then complain about the results.
Please. They are only bolstering their reputation for entitlement with their reaction.

Texas has a lot of Scottish roots. We are always talking about it and considering it but realize it won't happen unless things get really bad.
That's why I'm surprised Scotland voted towards staying in the EU. They always seemed like a very proud and independent people that does not want to be Governed by an outside political entity like the EU.

Yes, but they also feel that way about England.
