I am a BBC radio (esp Radio 4) addict and have most of their available shows on my list, but I am always looking out for more good podcasts from the UK which are available in the USA, to keep in touch and keep homesickness at bay...

Comedy is always top of the list, but also music/film/arts programmes, documentaries and news, interviews - anything really.

Any suggestions and links will be most gratefully recieved!

Ricky Gervais has many podcasts on itunes, which is probably the best of the British stuff.
If you like listening to comedy, then Bob Elliot & Ray Goulding (Bob & Ray Show) is tough to beat. Its old stuff that was on NPR in the US, but if you find it, its very funny...

there is SO much great british comedy. of course, humour is taste-specific but there are a few shows on at the moment that really epitomise that understated-to-slapstick black humour. i dunno, i'm english, so maybe how you percieve it depends on your cultural background, but give these a shot.

charlie brooker's screen wipes- amazing. not a show, charlie brooker is this hilariously angry man, and on his show he "reviews" tv but just hates EVERYTHING. brilliantly sarcastic, i hope he never cheers up.

peep show- follows two guys, weird camera shots filmed from the point of other people, very very funny

the IT crowd- has its moments
the mighty boosh- outrageously weird

Good recommendations there I reckon! There was a documentary on about Boosh the other night and I was worried it might make it less weird by dissecting it. Oh no. Still nice and weird.

Are these available as podcasts then? I can't download podcasts myself but conscious of the original request...

Thanks RH, kind of you to care... I have found quite a few more podcast sites since I first asked, but more suggestions always welcome.

BTW have you noticed how so many of these UK threads seem to end up on the subject of comedy? I am beginning to think it defines us, and unites us as a nation more than anything....which is a good thing....no?
