AFAIK , the commonwealth has no role in defense treaties ?

Defense is the routine spelling of the word in America but here in Gt Britain where it came from we and I prefer defence..........

I prefer an english standardization between the commonwealth and the US. I hate this different spelling crap.

My laptop has American English so sometimes I just go with it.

American English puzzles me.

We tend to pronounce things differently from our American cousins and we are invaded by Americanisms even on the news. That clown Blair brought in a Supreme Court replacing the old Lords one then we get "law enforcement" and so on!

I think blair talked GWB into invading with Cheney. British had more to gain and less to lose. Don't know how many oil contracts they got though.
