"We merely want free trade, so we decided to leave the world's biggest free trade area", that's amazing.
Yup! People rightly need ask why the UK has been through five years of debate over leaving a trade bloc with our closest neighbours, only to rush into joining another one on the other side of the world! https://www.theguardian.com/politics...iFylLqBVBVYeZQ
No, not everyone but even the WHO is saying that once the UK has vaccinated it's vulnerable people it should share the vaccines with others rather than hoarding it for itself.
The EU doesn't have a contract that says that supplies to the EU must come from the vaccines made in the USA but it does have a contract that says that supplies to the EU must come from the vaccines made in the UK. When the UK supply of vaccines dropped by 5% it was made up from vaccines from the EU.
Do you mean in the same way that Brexit Bungling Boris was prepared to throw them under the bus three weeks ago.
We will have 'no hesitation' in triggering Article 16 if necessary, says Boris Johnson
You would do far better venting your anger at the buffoons at the EU, the UK is NOT part of the EU, it owes the EU nothing, the EU however still seems to think it somehow has the right to 'muscle in' on the UK's vaccination program AND it tried using threats to get it too! I suggest thats NOT the right way to go about it!!
What makes you think the UK HAS to aid the EU first anyway!? (More Euro arrogance), surely if it comes to it the UK should be helping it's Commonwealth family first no?
Instead of 'blowing up' at the UK why don't you vent your anger at the people who really are at fault here? Perhaps a strongly worded note to Ursula wouldn't go amiss!
A “stampede” of UK-based and UK-owned companies have made inquiries about setting up branches, depots or warehouses in the Netherlands alone, for “Brexit-related reasons”. The figures have been compiled by government unit the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency, which said that while most of the firms were already based in the UK, a minority were new companies from the US and Asia which had investigated a UK move, but had decided against investing here because of Brexit. https://www.thelondoneconomic.com/ne...X2s48.facebook

The EU is safeguarding it's interests...just like Brexit Bungling Boris threatened to do three weeks ago. Remember that BBB was first

Safeguard it's interests! Not Irish ones though eh!! Or by 'safeguard it's interests' do you mean German and French ones only!
If you must 'safeguard your interests' then go and 'safeguard your interests' on the US boards and moan at them for getting Pfizer vaccine to cover their contract instead, or alternatively 'safeguard your interests' by actually ordering the bloody vaccines quickly and efficiently in the first place!

Please do explain why it's acceptable for Bungling Boris to threaten A16 to protect the interests of the UK but it isn't acceptable for the EU to do the same.

Again, as you appear to have missed it (or more likely ignored it)....

From the EU-Astrazenica contract... “AstraZeneca shall use its Best Reasonable Efforts to manufacture the vaccine at manufacturing sites located within the EU (which for the purpose of this Section 5.4 only shall include the United Kingdom)..."
THAT is what the row is about. It has nothing to do with the EU being envious of the UK as you seem to think. It between the EU and Astrazenica and the contract that they have between them. That contract states that Astrazenica must use plants based in the UK in it's 'Best Efforts' to supply the EU with the vaccines that it has paid for. It's that simple!

The UK just said it would triggered it if necessary the EU actually triggered it over a Anglo Swedish company which it had a contract with, and which was nothing to do with the UK.
The EU are a disgrace and are more unpopular than at any time I can recall, so keep up the good work Ursula.

Yes this trade bloc is just a trade bloc, it's not a corrupt political organisation that's going to try to take away our Democratic freedom

In other words it tried (and failed) to muscle in on the UK's contract!!
Disgraceful!
