Seems all the MacDonald outlets around my area have had major renovations to turn their appearance into some kind of Bistro, The food is still the same although they now think highly of their coffee but the seating arrangements are absurd, i think MacDonald has lost sight of its purpose, its a burger joint..
Any one else think this isnt a step in the right direction for MacDonalds .

I suppose the (oh so cool) hipsters they're appealing to (the ones who eat McD's) won't mind.

Don't know where you live but I've noticed the bistro McDonalds in Orlando for something like the past 5 years and have wished the concept would expand to where I live. I have found the bistro food items of very good quality. I might go to McDonalds once a week and most of the time it's because of my child. I basically have to be talked into going. But whenever I'm in Orlando I WANT to go to bistro McDonalds. My take is that the concept is an excellent one.

This is what we're talking about right? Where I live, this is just about the most interesting architecture around. They actually make the area look somewhat decently better.

I think this is just their new exterior styling, saw a few new ones like this.

I think they more mean the interior which has a hybrid traditional McDs and an area that will look more coffee shopish

It seems this cafe trend is hitting quite a few retailers. There is the Walgreens urban concept with more food and a cafe service

Targets seemed to have had these for quite some time

Personally I dont see myself hanging in these though I am not a coffee shop person, but when I do give me a La Calombe

The concept I'm familiar with is about the food more so than the building. The restaurant has the typical offerings but there is a second kitchen next to the main one with bistro offerings and its food prep on the side, if the typical kitchen is considered in the front. All of it is still inside and it's easy to get a combination of regular menu items and bistro menu items. They generally had bistro items on display inside a view case rather than the pic on the overhead board like the regular menu items.

Although this pic is of a MacDonalds in Japan it is a very similar concept to the two closest to my place in Montreal..

I'm happy my local McDonald's in Vancouver looks like this, it's nicer than what the old McD's looked like. If i'm going to McDonald's, i'd prefer to have a nice environment than a gross one.

There is slow food, good food and bad food; then there is fast food. Every time I eat at Mikey's D, I die a little bit.

They look great...! the one by my house has the atmosphere of a Starbucks with people just hanging out, reading books, on their laptop or watching tv.
