Do you get a lot of "y'all" there in OK? After several years in Texas, I never could get used to hearing that all the time. Still drives me crazy to this day.

Actually I don't hear that as much. Not too much of an accent here either. There is a slight one in the way that words are said but it's not that twangy sound. I think it is really a Texas thing. My daughter-en-law is from Texas and she says "y'all" alot and also "all y'all" which doesn't make sense to me. I don't mind her saying it but when we visit Texas and hear it constantly it drives me nuts. My step daughter says "I know, right?" and that drive me insane!!

Default I miss so many things........

I miss the Wasatch Mountains.....so close and incredible to SLC.
I miss family, friends and many other people.
I miss crown burger, greek souvlaki, la-puente, yannis and so many other great restaurants.
I miss the Utah Jazz and Real Salt Lake....
The short drive to Wendover and Evanston....

Its funny how one does not appreciate things until they are gone.

And of course I miss the Winter Olympic Games which put SLC on the map.

Public Land!!!

I grew up in Utah, and have lived in several other states, and the thing I missed the most when we lived in Texas was the lack of public land.

In Utah, most of the state is public land, so the access to incredible outdoor recreation is amazingly easy and cheap. Once you've lived in a state with limited public lands, you really understand how good we have it in Utah!

As a Salt Lake native and having lived throughout the West (CA, OR, AZ, NM, & UT), I can say there isn't a lot that miss about Utah. Mainly just the unique scenery of Southern Utah - anything North of I-70 isn't worth a hoot in my estimation.

Came back to this thread today because someone gave me a rep point. I learned the Kellersburgers closed. I will miss them and just knowing they were there if I wanted to drive 8 hours for jerky, a great burger, and an amazing shake.

I miss skiing whenever I want. I miss driving to Las Vegas or Grand Canyon (or any of the national parks in S. Utah) on short notice. I miss hiking, camping, and the amazing views. I miss disappearing into Big or Little Cottonwood canyon on a moments notice. We'll be back in 1-2 yrs to settle down, 3 at the most. I'm looking forward to calling it home again.
