My family and I visited Southern Utah (Moab and Castle Valley as well as others) last summer and were blown away by the beauty of the place. Pictures are nice, but it was breathtaking in real life. We are from North Carolina and I am in my second year of nursing school and when I graduate in a year or so we are discussing a move. My wife and I have discussed moving out there. I wondered what advice someone might give about trying to move to the Moab or Castle Valley area. What is the job market like, particularly health care? What is the average cost of a 1500 to 2000 sq ft home. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Check out Realtor.com or Utahhomes.com either can give you a good idea of housing cost. Rember to ask about utilities cost. It will suprise you how cheap these are. Learn what they mean by "culinary" water.Ask lots of questions,before you move.

Our Castle Valley dream
We bought land in Castle Valley several years ago. Have now almost completed a house on it and am moving in soon. Since finding the valley years ago, I am never disappointed when I return. It is a very special place on this earth. I also have watched the medical community in Moab grow. I don't think you will have any problem finding employment at the hospital or clinics in town. Just remember, salaries are lower here as is real estate and other services. It is relative. I have watched real estate climb within the last five years. Moab has been "discovered" and I predict that there will be more of an influx of people here in the next 10 years. The health care infrastructure is much better even than five years ago. Good luck!
