I tried a Hilary burger tonight (the World's Best, in the green box). I'm not sure what to think; it wasn't bad... it just doesn't taste like anything. It was kind of like eating a hash brown patty.
Stick it in a sandwich which also consists of a slice of veggie cheese and slice of tomato.
And my home-made mayonnaise which is a packet of dried onion soup mixed into a qt. of fat-free Greek yogurt. I also use that "mayonnaise" as a salad dressing.
Consider myself vegetarian rather than strict vegan.
It tastes pretty good, and has that grilled smoky beef aftertaste down pat.
Doesn't taste 100% beef to me, and I could certainly tell the difference between real meat and Beyond Meat. But it still tastes really good and a good substitute for meat.

not a vegan or vegetarian and we too like Morning Star veggy burgers: forget the veggie cheese though.
The Beyond Burger is the best "realistic" I have found so far. I fooled 3 friends with them. They swore it was real meat. Dr. Praeger's kale burgers are great. Trader Joe's Masala burgers are nice. The only ones that I do not like are the tough, dry types. However, wrapping in foil with water, and baking can soften them, or braise them in a small pan with a tad of water, and they are softer, like meat loaf.
I don't really buy these from a store anymore but when I did, my favorites were the ones that didn't try to mimic a beef burger or a chicken patty. My favorite ones to make now are mostly black beans and cumin.
Best veggie burger I ever had--if you happen to find yourself there--the hemp burger at the food truck on the museumplein, the park between the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam. Get the tomato soup with it.
Thank you!! Will be there in 2 weeks with my Vegan teen. Trying to find vegan meals traveling is such a PITA.
