The Payne Train: The Vegan Monologues | Shutdown Corner - Yahoo! Sports

I knew about Carl Lewis, but I didn't realize so many other athletes have been going the vegan/vegetarian route lately. Hopefully this will dispell the stereotype of weakness associated with the vegan diet.

That'll make 1 out of about 1600. Tony Gonzalez tried and couldn't do it. People also seem to get that his (and every other vegan athlete's) formative years were spent as an omnivore like nature intended. Once you hit your 20's, it's pretty much all maintenance.

Baseless propaganda much? The only one who intends for us to consume animal products are the people who are selling the animal products. Animal products cause cancer & heart disease, was that also part of mother nature's plan?

Good! I hope that he does well with the new diet.

I just heard an interview, and Arian mentioned how well he was doing after switching to a vegan lifestyle. The team dietician said that she works with all the players on nutrition, and that she thinks Arian "could be on the cusp of a new way of eating for NFL players."

Arian is having a great season and is #2 in the NFL for rushing yards this season.

I frequently watch Texans games, and the commentators often discuss Arian's vegan diet and lifestyle.

I really think the best thing to do with people who decide to post negative statments on the "Vegetarian and Vegan Food" forum - ignore them. They come here because their life is centered on negativity. Ignore them and hopefully they will go away.

you are right, but sometimes what appears to be negative is just someone giving his/her opinion. I know I do not want to put anyone down, I rarely come to this thread unless the title of a subject catches my attention and I respect peoples choices, but that doesn't mean I don't have opinions that might differ from yours. I have seen many on the other open food threads that are vegans or vegetarians put us meat eaters down. Do you think they should be ignored as well?

I have seen members who post negatively on many forums, and I agree that they should be ignored. The veggie threads seem to have more negative members than the other forums. I always figured that was because those members were envious of our healthy and compassionate lifestyle.

Actually I don't think that vegans or vegetarians should visit non-vegan/vegetarian food forums and make critical statements about meat-eating - I think it is rude and certainly not the way to interest people in foregoing animal products.
