Tonight my wife made a nice bean soup with lentils, red beans, corn, and veggie crumbles - so good!

Needed a bit of comfort tonight...

Grilled "cheeze" sandwiches on wheat and oven cook french fries.

Dinner out on the patio with a dirty martini.

Default Noodle Bowl

Old standby for us (sorry if I have posted this before, just chalk it up to a "senior moment" )

Great on a hot summer night: Edamame with Buckwheat Soba Noodles

First I make the dressing. Some toasted sesame oil, rice wine vinegar, smushed garlic, grated fresh ginger, squeeze of lemon or lime and cilantro and a slice of jalepeno from the garden. A dash of tamari. Shake well and let sit.

Toast sesame seeds. I like a mix of black and white. I cheat and do them in a little "boat" of tinfoil in the toaster oven. Do not burn.

Boil water and add fresh or frozen shelled edamame, diced broccoli and julienned carrots . Tonight I also added a bit of dried wakame (seaweed). Salty and good! Cook until tender, drain and rinse under cool water. Set aside.

Boil water and cook soba noodles. I'd say "according to package" but I find I like mine a little under-cooked . Drain and rinse well.

Toss the dressing, veggies and noodles together. Top with sesame seeds. Add tamari and extra sesame oil if needed. If you like it "hot" serve with sliced fresh jalapeno peppers or crushed chili-garlic sauce. Sprigs of cilantro or Thai basil make a nice garnish.

At our house, we enjoy this with a nice dry Sauvignon blanc.

Sounds good, plaidmom. I have soba noobles & black seasame seeds on hand. Maybe I'll try this tonight with steamed asparagus...the dressing sounds wonderful!

A friend gave me a box of wild rice So tonight it will be the rice with fresh asparagus spears and corn on the cob. And of course a piece of bread to mop up and clean the plate. A juicy peach for desert. Sweet iced tea

Black bean stew with zucchini, red potatoes, and corn, served with baked polenta.

Not for those on "low carb" diets, eh?

We both ran and rode and worked around the house today so we feel like we need a bit of refueling. We also have movie night: "The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas" and for some lighter fare, "Duplicity".

Will open a bottle of Temperanillo shortly.
