The Timberlines actually are significantly cheaper (association fee) than all others and yes they do seem to be a bit bigger (the one up now is 3 bed 2 bath at about 1100 sq ft). The monthly is but quite reasonable for what you are getting (trash, plowing, sewer, outside maint, etc.).
All of this was incorrect, what I meant was Grand Hollow. which I think is actually pretty close to Timberlines.
I think maybe we need to figure out better what we want. For us $4800 a year between association/road/sewer fees seems like a lot of money to swallow. I guess that with the Lynx being very close to the mountain, there is a premium to pay for that.
we'll check out some of the other options a little further away..we are working loosely with someone at Graves now.
Grand Hollow is close to Timberline but it's not a condo complex. It's a small collection of old funky duplex units. I don't think you want to buy there.
Ok I have to ask. is there something wrong with it? we looked and i would say yes funky. it did not seem unmaintained or anything. there was an old 80s limo sitting in someones parking spot but ... it's not like they were starting a junkyard.
thank you for all of your replies. it is nice to hear from someone who has a good feel for the area.
Have you thought about looking in Waterbury? I'm not sure what your specific needs/desires are, but it's another option, about 15-20 minutes away from the slopes...
i don't think i know too much about waterbury. we have driven through and gone to ben and jerry's.
we are not really even huge skiers, and with a new baby we won't be doing that for a while. we just love the valley for the people, the restaurants, the farms and local/organic food movement, the mountains for hiking and biking, the mad river path, and swimming holes. basically just like to enjoy the outdoors. we also appreciate the for-the-most-part disconnect from chain stores.

When I was looking to buy about 10 years ago I checked them out.....major sewer issues and other maintainence problems. I can't imagine things have improved much since then. Having said that it doesn't hurt to check them out....talk to someone living there, see what your realtor has to say about them.
sorry for all of the random questions. i am going to have to pay you a realtor fee. we are posing all of the same questions but it is nice to get an unbiased, or even just differently biased view.
i think maybe we are just too picky for our budget but i am going to keep looking haha
