Hey ya'll
So my husband and I are getting out of the Navy and he is joining the border patrol. We are looking at VT for a station when he is up for application to a new station. I'm from MI originally, but how different is it up there? Is border patrol given a lot of crap or lack of support? How is the economy overall? I am studying to be a midwife and am a doula, how much are doulas and/or midwives used in Vermont? I see that housing is higher than in the south, are there many forclosures right now? How are the people in general and all that other good stuff? Thanks for any input!

Vermont is considered a relatively friendly state for birthing choices.

Many woman I know who gave birth in Vermont used a doula. If you Google "doulas Vermont," many sites pop up, including networking opportunities.

In a not uncommon scenario, one of my friends had all three babies (now healthy young adults) at home assisted by home-birth midwives. Vermont licenses midwives.

I know as of last year, all new Border Patrol agents have to do a few years on the US/Mexican border before they can apply for transer somewhere else.
