So far nothing much but a little rain around Rutland, but I guess we're not in the clear yet. Stay away from large trees watchman. I was caught in a surprise severe storm in a wilderness area in Mt. Tabor a few years back. Lightning was striking trees around me, and one fell and came close to hitting my tent (it bounced off a boulder, talk about luck).

I am hanging around town and NOT going to camp tonite. Just noticed on the Weather Ch. we are a 3 on the TorCon and there is a big line of severe storms with tornado warnings in Western PA/NY now. Its due in around here around here some time after 5pm. We got alot of sun today so the atmosphere here is ripe! My tent is on a high hill with 70-80 foot oaks and maples all around.....

August 2012 Cool Down
Are you guys ready for some 40s yet? I sure am. It's been disgustingly and consistantly humid making the air soupy and unbreathable here and making it feel near 90+ for weeks on end.
Here's the latest GFS for next weekend lows at night.
The current cold front brought local 30s into Wisconsin overnight and widespread 40s..
That wont make it East this time but another Cold front is coming through next week looks stronger.
Trough is establishing itself in the East... We could have a cool fall afterall!

"This webcam image looking northeast at Mount Mansfield comes courtesy of one of our employees who lives out in Jericho, VT. While much of Vermont is virtually cloud free this morning, low clouds are spilling over the Green Mountains. Why is this? Well, southeasterly winds are in place across eastern Vermont this morning, and when they interact with the mountains, the air has no place to go but up. The air cools as it rises, and condenses into clouds at the mountain tops. In addition, southeasterly winds at the summit level give a "spilling over" effect. Pretty cool!"
