I am thinking about making a move to Ryegate, I already have a job in Hanover nh. I was wondering how long the commute would be and also how are the schools. I was wondering how far woodsville is too.

Woodsville, NH is about 10 minutes from Ryegate and Ryegate is about 45 minutes from Hanover. Where you live and work in these towns can add or subtract a little time from your commute.

If your job is in Hanover, you should be aware that being a VT resident will make you liable for VT income taxes. NH has NO income tax but they do nickel and dime you with taxes and fees that VT does not have,

The tax situation is true. I'm not sure how long term you are willing to keep this job. NH has been from time to time considering adding an income tax. If this ever happened, you will be paying income tax in NH as well as Vermont. Living that close to NH, you should consider living there. It seems that all the places you need to be close to are in NH.
